Hi, I’m Raven and I’m a language tutor! I speak English, Spanish and Japanese fluently and I am passionate about encouraging other people to learn languages too :)
As an English and Colombian child, I was raised bilingual (English and Spanish) so I have close ties to both languages and cultures. What got me properly interested in language learning was another one of my passions - media. I was instantly drawn to the Japanese language after watching anime with my family, and I was lucky to be able to go to an afterschool academy to study it. This way I’ve experienced both second language acquisition (Spanish) and language learning (Japanese).
With the changes life usually throws at us, continuing this learning took several forms. I genuinely believe no one course nor method can fit everyone! I’ve experienced many forms of language study during the last decade, and through experimentation and analysis I’ve learned what works best for different goals. I’ve applied this understanding to design my language teaching style, with room to tailor for the individual. I prioritise understanding my student’s motivations, goals and interests to be able to truly make my lessons engaging and useful.
